Professional Counseling
The primary objective of the Professional Counseling Master of Arts degree program at South University is to provide you with the comprehensive academic preparation to become a professional counselor upon your graduation, subject to applicable state licensure requirements.
As a student in the two-year master’s degree program in Professional Counseling, you are taught using two primary modes of instruction:
• The majority of the program involves didactic and experiential classroom instruction, supplemented by computer-based assignments using Internet technology.
• The second mode of instruction focuses on supervised field experiences. Students are placed in actual community counseling settings and practice counseling under the auspices of an on-site supervisor. Students in field placements also receive weekly individual and group supervision from qualified faculty supervisors.
