Heather Askew

Director of Communications

Heather Askew was named Director of Communications in May 2008. In this position Askew is responsible for public relations, community/governmental relations, special events, crisis and internal communications for the university system.

Prior to joining South University she developed marketing communication collateral for WorldCom, supporting vertical marketing managers in healthcare and manufacturing for national and emerging markets. She developed and implemented the communication process for human resources communications during multiple acquisitions for The Home Depot, and managed public relations and corporate communications for the global manufacturer, Columbian Chemicals Company.

She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators and a recipient of their Atlanta Chapter’s first place Golden Flame Award for Electronic Media - DVD. A graduate of Georgia State University, Askew holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.
