Bruce Chong was named Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Advertising in July 2008. In this position Chong is responsible for leading the integrated marketing efforts for South University and building and maintaining the university’s brand image and positioning.
Prior to joining South University, Chong was Dean of Communications at the Savannah College of Art and Design where for the past nine years he was responsible for media relations, marketing and advertising as well as print, Web site, presentation and television production.
Chong accomplishments at the Savannah College of Art and Design include building national recognition and media placements, including CNN, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek and the Newsweek/Kaplan college guide. Under his leadership the communications department was recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, CASE, with a Grand Award and Circle of Excellence Awards, won multiple local and regional ADDY’s, received a Webby award, two Telly awards and several Admission Advertising Gold Awards.
Chong is a member of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Association, SEMPO and the American Marketing Association, AMA. His previous community involvement includes the board of the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club and the Asian American Journalists Association and its leadership program. He holds a bachelor of arts in journalism from San Diego State University.
