A. William Paulsen, Ph.D. serves as dean of the South University College of Health Professions and chairman, Department of Anesthesia Sciences Dr. Paulsen joined South University in 2003 and previously served as associate professor of anesthesiology at the Emory University School of Medicine and served as program director for academic affairs in the anesthesiologist assistant program. Earlier in his career, he served as a professor at West Virginia University, Baylor University, University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, University of Mississippi and Georgia Tech.
Dr. Paulsen has served on numerous national and international committees and as a consultant for numerous companies including Hewlett Packard and Siemens. In addition, he has received multiple grants and has published more than 115 articles and abstracts on various topics. He obtained a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Akron, a MMSc (Anesthesiology) from Emory University and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Paulsen is a member of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) and the Committee on Technology.
