Dr. Michael A. Crouch
Dr. Michael A. Crouch is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at South University’s School of Pharmacy in Savannah, Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He also completed two years of postgraduate training, including a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and a Medicine/Cardiology Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Crouch is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, who also holds added qualifications in cardiology.
Dr. Crouch has dedicated much of his career training pharmacy students and residents. He has received several teaching awards related to these activities. In addition to didactic and experiential teaching, he has developed and supported postgraduate training, including a Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Cardiovascular Pharmacy Residency program. His teaching research focuses on the use of technology in and out of the classroom, with a variety of articles in print.
Cardiovascular research interests focus on techniques to improve patient adherence and drug safety, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacoeconomics. He has published numerous articles and textbook chapters in these areas. In addition, he serves as the textbook editor for “Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy: A Point-of-Care Guide”.
Dr. Crouch is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). He serves on several editorial and scholarly boards, including a current appointment on the editorial advisory board of the Annals of Pharmacotherapy. Nationally, he provides numerous invited presentations related to cardiovascular pharmacotherapeutics.
