

Joseph Harm, Ph.D.

Dr. Joe Harm serves as vice president for Academic Affairs at South University where he is responsible for carrying out the academic mission of the university through administering a diverse offering of undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the university’s accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Prior to joining South University, Dr. Harm served as Distinguished Professor Emeriti and tenured professor of psychology at the University of South Carolina-Aiken. During his career, Dr. Harm has held numerous faculty and administrative positions ranging from teaching positions to roles in Institutional Research and Planning. Dr. Harm served as co-director for USC-Aiken’s SACS accreditation self study and as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. He began his career as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and later served as chairperson, Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at USC-Aiken.
Dr. Harm was appointed to the South Carolina State Health Planning Committee, the Board of Directors, Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center and served as psychologist on the Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center Advisory Board. Dr. Harm is an accomplished educator, published author and has received numerous grants for his work.
Dr. Harm received a B.S. degree in Psychology with honors from Trinity College and a Ph.D. in General-Experimental Psychology from Vanderbilt University with a minor in Quantitative Analysis. Dr. Harm is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, American Evaluation Association, Southeastern Psychological Association and Sigma Xi, a national research society.
