The Savannah campus of South University is located on the southside of the city and is convenient to Savannah’s active midtown.
Just a few minutes away in downtown Savannah is a city of rich and diverse culture. Besides enjoying the city’s history, residents here benefit from both contemporary urban sophistication and the natural beauty of the beaches of Tybee Island, just 15 minutes away from downtown Savannah.
The city itself is located at the mouth of the Savannah River, which serves as the borderline between Georgia and South Carolina. This is a subtropical region with hot summers and mild winters. Geographically, much of the area is an ecologically vital marshland, with a vast network of rivers and streams.
An enterprising city, Savannah’s population of 131,000 largely comprising young adults, age 25 to 34, who have chosen to live, work, and study in this busy southern metropolis. Within the past decade the city’s population has grown by almost 11 percent with people being drawn by the wealth of culture, activities, nightlife, dining and access to the coast and recreational activities.
Continued renovation and renewal are creating new focal points for business, retail establishments, restaurants, galleries, and performance venues. In particular, River Street, the City Market, and Broughton and Bull Streets are unique Savannah attractions. Likewise, the area has abundant outdoor recreation possibilities, from golf, tennis and cycling to fishing, kayaking, and deep sea fishing and dolphin tours.
