RICHMOND, Va. – June 22, 2009 – Dr. Sharon Broscious has been named Program Director for Nursing at South University’s Richmond campus. Broscious brings over 30 years of experience as a healthcare professional and clinical instructor. She has extensive experience in supervising and teaching adult health nursing and advanced nursing concepts.

“Sharon’s professional history as a healthcare practitioner, professor and administrator meets exactly what is required for a solid nursing school at South,” said Dennis Corrado, president of South University – Richmond. “Not only does she possess strong skills as a nurse at some of the highest ranked medical centers in the United States, but she has demonstrated a real passion for student learning and the clinical teaching environment.”

As Program Director for Nursing, Broscious will lead and develop program initiatives, direct the campus’ day-to-day program operations, lead nursing student advisement, and establish the tone for the nursing program in Richmond. She will be a key member of the administration, creating a culture where faculty members are accessible to students and committed to student learning.

Broscious graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing Education at Villanova University, and a Doctorate of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama – Birmingham. Broscious continues to publish and present on a wide variety of contemporary health care topics in addition to working abroad with Health Volunteers Overseas in 2008.

Initially, South University’s Richmond campus will offer an RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree completion program targeted to begin in 2010. Associate degree or diploma nurses who are interested in learning more about the program should speak with an Admissions Officer at 2200 Old Brick Road, Glen Allen, Va., in the West Broad Village development or by calling 888-422-5076.
