Chief of Police, Tandy P. Carter, will serve as 2008 commencement speaker.

Students will receive associates, bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of fields including Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Information Technology, Legal Studies, Medical Assisting, Paralegal Studies and Professional Counseling.

"Congratulations to the Class of 2008. South University is growing rapidly, and you can see it in our commencement ceremonies," said Anne Patton, president of South University - Columbia. "This June we are graduating more students than ever before, with an amazing 86% increase in our graduate-level degrees awarded."

This is only the second commencement in which the Columbia campus will deliver graduate-level degrees. The university offers a popular Master of Arts in Professional Counseling degree program, as well as master's degree programs in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration. In addition, the campus will also recognize the first graduate to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree.

"South University is always looking at expanding its program offering, and I am so pleased to see our student body growing with each new academic program offering," said Patton. "These programs are in demand, and I am proud to be a part of an institution that meets the higher education needs in the Columbia area."
