Rose Brault, EdD, PCRN, ARNP-C, FAANP, associate professor of nursing at South University - Tampa, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) on Saturday, June 20, during the AANP national conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

"The FAANP program recognizes the outstanding contributions to health care made by nurse practitioner leaders It is wonderful that Dr. Brault has been recognized as such a leader," said Doris Parrish, RN, Ph.D., program director for nursing. "As a result of her clinical practice, Dr. Brault is able to bring experiences and expertise into the classroom - thus enhancing the learning experience of the students she teaches."

Established in 2000, the FAANP program recognizes leaders for their contributions to health care through nurse practitioner clinical practice, research, education or policy. Priority initiatives of FAANP are the development of leadership and mentorship programs for nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner students.

"Dr. Brault is an avid supporter of advanced practice nursing to meet the challenging health care needs of disadvantaged citizens," said Dan Coble, RN, Ph.D., president of South University - Tampa. "As both a didactic and clinical instructor, she is respected by students and faculty for her depth of knowledge and for her readiness to share her unique clinical experiences. I have long been impressed with her accomplishments and the designation as fellow of the AANP is fitting."

Fellows of the AANP are visionaries committed to the global advancement of nursing through the development of imaginative and creative future nurse practitioner leaders, and as such, hold an annual think tank to strategize about the future of nurse practitioners and health care outside the confines of traditional thinking. A limited number of nurse practitioners are selected for this highly coveted distinction each year.

Dr. Brault will continue the tradition of contributing to the mission of the AANP and promoting the role of the nurse practitioner. Dr. Brault received her BSN from Boston College and her MSN and EdD degrees from Boston University and has a post-masters certificate in adult nurse practitioner from the University of Florida. In addition to her teaching and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Brault serves as president of the South University Honor Society of Nursing.
