South University names Maria-Lorena Santos Dean of Student Affairs

South University announced today that Maria-Lorena Santos has been named Dean of Student Affairs. Santos brings with her over 13 years of experience in student achievement both in secondary and higher education.
As Dean of Student Affairs, she is responsible the delivery of effective and high-quality services to students. Her areas of responsibility include first-year experience and student life programs, career and disability services, student conduct and the university book store. She will develop policies, programs and services to meet the needs of South University’s diverse student population and that foster student development and promote involvement in campus life.
"Dean Santos has a proven track record of advising students and improving outcomes," said David McGuire, president of South University. "She has particular experience in developing Academic Learning Centers and leading important student events from orientation to graduation.”
Prior to joining South University, Santos was the Campus Dean for Florida National College in Miami, a two-year private college. She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, Counseling, and Family Studies and Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island.
