Friday, June 18, 2010
South University will award degrees to 112 graduates at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 at the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. Three graduates will earn the university’s first Master of Business Administration degrees with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. South University began offering the concentration, which prepares students for leadership roles in the healthcare delivery system, in 2007.
Other graduate degrees include four Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling, six MBAs and one Master of Science in Criminal Justice. More than half of the bachelor’s degrees that will be conferred are in Business or Healthcare Management. Physical Therapist Assisting is the largest single program at South University and will graduate 21 students with Associate of Science degrees.
State Senator Hank Sanders of Alabama’s 23rd District will provide the commencement address to the nearly 1,000 expected family and friends of South University’s class of 2010.
“South University has been in Montgomery for 12 years, and we are celebrating the latest of many commencement events over the years,” said Victor K. Biebighauser, president of South University. “Every year there are more graduates, and every year I am impressed by their level of accomplishment and the commitment level of our faculty and staff.”
