South University celebrates winter commencement

Tampa will award 35 Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees and 3 Bachelor of Health Science degrees during its winter commencement at Higgins Hall at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Timothy D. Eixenberger, RN MBA, CNAA, will be the keynote speaker. Eixenberger is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla. Currently, he serves as president of the Tampa Bay Organization of Nurse Executives and on the advisory committee for the South University –Tampa nursing program.
“The nursing shortage continues to be a challenge throughout Florida. Our graduates will improve the lives of many people in our communities by working at local hospitals, physician offices, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and anywhere they choose to apply their expertise,” said Dan Coble, RN PhD, president of South University – Tampa.
The commencement will include a pinning ceremony, where each graduate will receive a South University nursing pin and a rose to commemorate their entry into the profession of nursing. South University – Tampa opened its campus in June 2006 and offers bachelor’s degree programs in Health Science, Nursing, Healthcare Management, Business Administration and Psychology, and an associate of science degree program in Physical Therapist Assisting.
South University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and associate’s degrees (www.sacs.org). The South University – Tampa Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
