South University names Steven Yoho, Ph.D., System Vice President for Academic Affairs

South University announced today that Steven Yoho, Ph.D., has been named System Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Yoho, who joined South University in 2007 as the Dean of the College of Business and Professor of Management, brings over 11 years of experience in higher education and 15 years of business experience with him.

“Dr. Yoho brings has a great combination of experience that makes him an effective leader as evidenced by his success so far,” said John T. South, III, chancellor of South University. “As Dean of the College of Business, he has led the development of four new graduate programs, twelve specializations, and four new online/blended and distance learning graduate programs. And when I asked him to serve in the role on an interim basis, he swiftly integrated himself into our system-wide operational planning process.”

As System Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Yoho is responsible for engaging with all seven of our campuses, the three Colleges and the School of Pharmacy. He will lead the development and implementation of the University’s strategic plan and manage the university’s academic leaders, accreditation processes, the Quality Enhancement Plan, the library system, online/blended programs and Institutional Research.

His credentials include seven years at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was a Professor of Management, winning the Outstanding MBA Professor award every year of his tenure. His research on leadership models has been published in the Journal of Leadership and Organization Studies, Summer 2005, and Proclaiming Freedom in the Land: The Role of the Professorate in Promoting Principle-Centered Learning, 2003. Dr. Yoho has presented his research at several conferences including the Southeastern Conference on Teaching Business Administration, the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences and the Speech Communication Association of Ohio.

A graduate of Ohio University, Dr. Yoho earned a Ph.D. in Organization Behavior and Leadership. He holds a Master of Science degree from West Virginia University in Human Resource Management.
