South University-Virginia Beach Names Maureen Nixon, Ph.D., Dean of Academic Affairs

South University-Virginia Beach, which opens April 5, 2010 in 32,600 square feet of space in Convergence Center IV near Town Center, has named Maureen Nixon, Ph.D. as its Dean of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Nixon, who was previously Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Undergraduate Organizational Leadership and Management program at Regent University, will initially oversee a range of associates, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in such fields as Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Management, Legal Studies and Psychology. Dr. Nixon earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from North Carolina State University, a Master of Arts in Communication from Norfolk State University and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.
A native of Hertford, North Carolina, Dr. Nixon has 20 years of collegiate teaching experience, including positions at Johnson and Wales University, where she was Department Chair in Arts and Sciences. She also has an extensive background in advertising, public relations and as a Woman-Owned Small Business (SWAM).
