Associate of Science in Medical Assisting

Physicians rely on their medical assistants to perform a wide range of roles that include working with administrative staff to run a successful, efficient healthcare practice. In addition to a natural inclination to want to help others, medical assistants need specific technical training to be the most effective in this position.

Our program takes into account the many clinical and administrative duties required for this position, and we tailor our curriculum accordingly so that you can be successful in this important position.
Graduates are required to pass the national certification exam and obtain a state license in order to work in the field. (Exam names vary by program.) Please refer to the State Professional Licensure Determination and National Certification/Licensure section of the University catalog for additional information. South University cannot guarantee each graduate will pass the required licensure examinations. South University does not promise or guarantee licensure, employment, or salary amounts.
