Charlesetta Blake
Ms. Blake is a native of Savannah, Georgia. In September 2009, Ms. Blake started her employment at South University as the Clinical Administrative Assistant for the Physician Assistant Program in the College of Health Professions.
Currently, she serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the PA program. Since being a member of the clinical team, she has been awarded the Clinical Faculty Member of the Year Award by the Classes of 2010 and 2011 for her dedication to the program and excellence in clinical coordination.
She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems from Savannah State University in 2002 where she earned several academic awards including the American Association of University Women, Dean of College of Business Award, Tom Joyner Foundation Award, and Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
In 2007, she earned her Master of Education degree in Adult Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University where she was inducted into Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Ms. Blake’s educational career of numerous years has encompassed her collaborative work at Savannah State University, focusing on Student Support Services within the U.S. Department of Education-TRIO/ACCESS Programs.
She brings to South University a wealth of experience in her position as the Clinical Coordinator of the Physician Assistant Program. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Also, she enjoys spending time with her family and her daughter, Tiffany. Her interests involve music, singing, and reading.
John Burns III
Mr. Burns is a native of Savannah Georgia. He has been a member of the South University PA Program faculty since 2001. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia in Adult Health Education. He is a 1997 graduate of the Emory University PA program. Upon graduation he began his clinical career in Family Medicine at Fayette Medical Clinic in Fayetteville, Georgia.
In 1999 he returned to his hometown of Savannah and began clinical practice in Endocrinology. In 2001 he joined the faculty of South University as the Associate Clinical Coordinator. He has also served as the program’s Academic Coordinator and Associate Director.
In 2009 he assumed the role of Program Director. His teaching interests include medical communication, endocrinology, ophthalmology and physical assessment. His clinical interests include endocrinology specifically Type 1 diabetes and thyroid disorders. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, and the Physician Assistant Education Association. He currently serves as a committee member for the CASPA Advisory Committee. He lives in Savannah with his wife Christy and their two children. His hobbies include boating, reading, gardening, golf, and running.
