The Virginia Beach campus of South University is located near the heart of the Virginia Beach Town Center, a lively shopping and residential area. It’s a short drive off the I-264 interstate and is a fifteen-minute drive away from the Virginia Beach oceanfront. There are also the Motor World and Ocean Breeze amusement parks, along with Red Wing Park, all surrounding the Oceana Naval Air Station.
The campus has small class sizes so students may have a more personalized experience with their education. It provides students with the opportunity to learn hands-on skills with an emphasis on balancing life, work, and education.
The campus also works with the larger community for events such as health clinics or walks for certain causes, often partnered with organizations like Filipino Heritage Association and the local YMCA. Our partnerships also include major medical healthcare centers like Sentara Health Systems and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center that support our healthcare students during their clinicals.
Some of the programs at South University are taught entirely online; others are taught at our Virginia Beach campus. Several programs are delivered in a hybrid* style of online and in-person learning. All our programs, no matter the modality, offer the same level of support and care and resources for you to use. The Virginia Beach campus offers degree programs in areas such as Business & Technology, Counseling & Psychology, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, Healthcare, Nursing, Public Administration, and Public Health.
*Although hybrid offered courses are available in-person or online, this program still requires Clinical courses to be conducted in person and on-site. We cannot guarantee flexibility in these components of the program.

South University’s Virginia Beach campus is just a short drive from the Town Center and approximately 20 minutes from the oceanfront. It’s easily accessible and close to other major roadways, making it convenient for students commuting from across the region.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available on-site for students, faculty, and visitors.
What public transportation options exist?
Public transportation in Virginia Beach is provided by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) (https://gohrt.com/ ). Several HRT bus routes serve the area around Bendix Road, offering students a convenient way to commute to campus. HRT also provides a mobile app for real-time tracking and trip planning.

The Virginia Beach campus offers a wide range of student support services, including:
- Academic advising and tutoring through the Academic Success Center
- Nursing (BSN) Labs with specialized mannequins and equipment
- Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Labs for simulation and practice for real-world activities
- Career Services for job search support, resume building, and interview prep
- Federal Work Study programs available to those who qualify

Does the campus have a library, lounge, or tutoring center?
Yes. The Virginia Beach campus features an on-campus and virtual library, a student lounge for collaboration and relaxation, and an Academic Success Center that provides tutoring and academic support.
Are internships available through local businesses?
While none of South’s programs offer direct internships, the BSN and PTA programs have clinical and preceptors where they enter real facilities under supervision before completing the respective program. The Virginia Beach campus offers work study programs and encourages all students to apply.
South BSN students often partner with Sentara Hospitals and Medical Centers, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD), and Chesapeake Regional Hospital.
Is the campus wheelchair accessible?
Yes. South University’s Virginia Beach campus is fully wheelchair accessible and complies with ADA standards. Students needing accommodations can work with the campus’ Disability Services office.

What dining options are available?
South University does not offer on-campus dining. The Virginia Beach campus does have a student break room with a coffee maker, sink, microwave, vending machines, and comfortable seating. The Virginia Beach area also offers a wide range of dining options: seafood and Southern cuisine to international restaurants and fast-casual favorites near the Town Center and throughout the city.
