SAVANNAH, GA – June 12, 2017 – South University, Savannah will honor more than 3,300 graduates at commencement ceremonies on June 16-17, 2017.
Three commencement ceremonies will be held over the weekend at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. This is the largest graduating class in the University’s 118-year history, and the first time it has held three commencement ceremonies in order to accommodate all of its graduates and their families.
“We are excited to be celebrating with these students as they cross the commencement stage and enter the next phase of their lives,” said South University Assistant Vice Chancellor for South Campuses and Savannah Campus President Todd Cellini. “Our graduates have worked hard to reach this milestone, and we look forward to the contributions the South University Class of 2017 will make in fields that include pharmacy, nursing, the health sciences, business and theology.”
Dr. Nancy Alvarez, current president of the American Pharmacists Association, will serve as commencement speaker for the School of Pharmacy ceremony on Friday. The American Pharmacists Association is the largest association of pharmacy professionals in the United States, and serves more than 62,000 members.
Dr. Ray Rudolph will serve as commencement speaker for both of the ceremonies being held on Saturday. In addition to his duties as medical director and assistant program director of South University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant program, he is also an assistant professor of surgery at both The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and the Mercer University School of Medicine. Rudolph was co-founder of the Center for Breast Care in Savannah, which at the time was the only practice in the region dedicated to this specialty.
