SAVANNAH, Ga. (January 25, 2011) – South University announced today that the Department of Education approved a merger between South University and The Art Institute of Dallas and The Art Institute of Fort Worth. With the addition of these two campuses, total enrollment for Fall Quarter of 2010 reached 24,695 students. The combined institution includes a recently created College of Creative Art & Design. This new college houses the 14 degree programs offered by The Art Institute of Dallas and The Art Institute of Fort Worth in the areas of design, media arts, fashion, and culinary are organized.
“The merger with South University will facilitate the expansion into graduate-level programs for these Art Institute campuses,” said Steven Yoho, Ph.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs for South University. “Student interest is very high in the areas of culinary, design, media arts and fashion, and we are pleased to add these programs and the quality faculty and staff to the South University system.”
Leslie Baughman, Ph.D., of The Art Institute of Dallas, has been named Dean of the College of Creative Art & Design and reports to Dr. Yoho. South University is now organized into five Colleges: Arts & Sciences, Business, Creative Art & Design, Health Professions, Nursing, and the School of Pharmacy.
