Forging the Sword of the Spirit: The Reliability of the New Testament Text Today's audience isn’t satisfied with a traditional “just because” answer. Simply saying “I believe the Bible is God's Word” is no longer enough. People need in-depth explanations, or they will walk away from organized religion. In this workshop, hosted by Dr. Paul McCuistion, Doctor of Ministry Program Director at South University, Tampa Campus and Orlando Learning Site, we'll explore the history and knowledge needed to clearly respond to questions regarding the reliability of the biblical text answering the question “Can I trust the Bible to be God’s Word for today?” Workshop Agenda The workshop will present the historical development of the written Bible, covering issues such as the time lapse between oral and written texts, the absence of original copies, the editing of existing copies, and the activity of the Holy Spirit during this process. In doing so, we’ll examine three distinct periods in the development of the Bible: • Writing • Discussion among church leaders of existing Biblical texts • Proclamation and acceptance of the 27 book canon Schedule • Meet and Greet 6:00-6:30 • Forging the Sword of the Spirit Presentation 6:30-7:30 • Q&A 7:30-8:00 More about Dr. Paul McCuistion here - https://www.southuniversity.edu/whoweare/newsroom/blog/a-passion-for-teaching-and-preaching-meet-doctor-of-ministry-program-director-paul-mccuistion To request accommodations in connection with this event, contact the Student Affairs Department or program organizer in advance at 407.393.3100.
