SAVANNAH, Ga. – October 7, 2014 -- South University has been named a 2015 Military Friendly® School by G.I. Jobs Magazine, marking the fourth year in a row that the University has been awarded the designation.
The G.I. Jobs 2015 Military Friendly® School designation recognizes colleges, universities, and technical schools’ dedication to the success of military students in the classroom and after graduation.
“We are very proud to be recognized as an institution that strives to serve our members of the armed forces as they advance their education,” said South University Chancellor John T. South, III. “We provide dedicated teams to meet the unique needs of the military and veteran affiliated students to ensure they have a smooth transition from military to South University. We also extend this commitment to spouses because we understand that the spouse serves alongside the military member.”
South University provides assistance that includes waiving admission fees for military and veteran affiliated students, and the transfer of relevant course credits. South University also evaluates the Joint Service Transcript and awards credit for military training and work experience when appropriate. These measures are part of the pledge the University made when it signed to support the Principles of Excellence program established by President Obama in 2012.
South University also offers an Active Duty Scholarship for eligible service members who serve on active duty or in one of the Reserve components or the National Guard. The University is also proud to be a signatory of the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding and also recently signed on as participants in the Department of Education’s 8 Keys to Veterans’ Success program. South University is approved for benefits offered through the Department of Veterans Affairs and offers Yellow Ribbon program benefits to all eligible veterans.
