Demystifying the Online Learning Experience with Course Media

March 8, 2011 http://www.southuniversity.edu/whoweare/newsroom/blog/demystifying-the-online-learning-experience-with-course-media

At first glance, it may seem isolating to earn your Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or Public Administration degree online. Luckily, you’ll have 24/7 access to course material, fellow classmates, and your course instructor. In addition to these conveniences, South University offers interactive media pieces in many courses to help drive home key concepts.

Take, for example, this drag and drop game from Managing Conventions and Meeting Planning, a course offered in the online Bachelor of Business Administration degree. A departure from the traditional classroom quiz, the drag and drop game tasks the student with identifying all necessary elements to hold a successful convention. The student is awarded points for correct answers in the form of dollar amounts. The final score, or earnings, determines the extent of the student’s knowledge on the subject.

In another interactive piece, presented to students in Criminal Justice in the Media from the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, an interactive timeline outlines the history of copycat suicides in America from 1774 through 1994. Students can click on individual dates to read factoids and view video pertaining to those years.

Other course media includes interactive quizzes, crossword puzzles, and interactive presentations, all designed to pique the student’s interest while solidifying acquired knowledge.
