South University congratulates the winners of the Path to Graduation Scholarship!

Mary Frances Nesbitt, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management

“I married young, had two beautiful children and worked fulltime through the years when most people are obtaining their education. As I got older, I realized how important a degree is when trying to advance in a career. Being that South University has been committed to education for over a hundred years, has continued to expand in the industry and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, when comparing South to other institutions, it wasn’t a hard decision to make.”

“Over the years I have referred others to this university. Most of them were my employees looking to better themselves. I knew from personal experience the level of education they would obtain from this academic institution. I also appreciate the friendly attitudes and competency of the staff and faculty. I will have no reservations about referring others to South University in the future.”

Kathryn Heidisch, Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies

“I’ve always had an interest in the legal field and decided to give the Legal Studies program a shot—I’ve never regretted a second of my enrollment either! I chose online learning out of necessity. Traditional ground classes just wouldn’t fit into my busy schedule. I love the flexibility and convenience that online classes provide!”

Brenda Gail Crosier, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management

“I found myself laid off and unemployed during this last recession of 2010. I tried to find a job but everything was asking for a bachelor’s degree and no longer did experience get you past that qualification. I had my associate’s degree in Paralegal Administration, and I decided that it was time to get the bachelor’s to advance myself along the pathway to excellence. Thank you for this opportunity and I am beyond proud at being chosen to receive this scholarship.”

Christy Tuiel, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

“I have always taught my children that education is important and to not settle when they can do more. I believe in setting an example for my children, so I returned to school to acquire an advanced degree in nursing. Also, I need at least a bachelor’s degree to work in management. I want to be able to assist my patients in all levels of their care, directly or indirectly. I love the profession of nursing and all that it represents. Continuing my education in nursing was a given, and having taken online classes before, I realized that this type of forum works for me. With this route, I can take care of my family, keep working, and still obtain my degree.”

The above students were selected to receive scholarships by the South University’s Scholarship Committee in conjunction with The Education Foundation. (To see the scholarship eligibility requirements and criteria used to review applicants, please see our post announcing the scholarship.)
