What Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioners Do

Adult gerontology nurse practitioners specialize in community-based care, providing health promotion, health protection, disease prevention, and treatment services for at-risk and vulnerable populations. Collaborating with physicians or working independently in private practices, hospitals, treatment centers, or walk-in clinics, a nurse practitioner may prescribe medicine, conduct physical exams, and perform diagnostic procedures as they help their adult patients to manage acute or chronic illnesses.

Becoming a nurse practitioner can have many benefits, including nurse practitioner level salary and a strong predicted job growth. The standard adult gerontology nurse practitioner salary varies by factors like experience level, employment type, and geographic region.
