2024 South University, Savannah graduate Angela Eckles is confident that going back to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in the RN to BSN program was the right call. It’s played a significant role in her professional development as a nurse. Today, Angela provides care for her patients as an RN at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, where she’s been working since 2023.
“Graduating from this program represents a culmination of hard work, dedication, and the acquisition of critical knowledge and skills that will support me in my nursing career,” she says. “Graduating with my RN/BSN degree has been a transformative experience that has enriched both my personal and professional life. As a student, I was able to expand upon the foundational knowledge I had gained as a registered nurse while acquiring advanced clinical and leadership skills.”
Angela appreciated that the RN-BSN program provided a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration, all of which have become essential components of her nursing practice. She also valued the personalized attention given to her by the faculty and staff.
“One of the highlights of my education at South University was the supportive and dynamic learning environment,” she says. “The professors were not only experienced professionals but also mentors who encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and self-reflection. This allowed me to deepen my understanding of nursing theory and practice while fostering a strong sense of community among my peers.”
For Angela, earning her BSN helped her not only to excel in patient care but also to feel ready to take on leadership roles within the healthcare system. She shares, “It has equipped me with the tools to advocate for my patients, improve healthcare outcomes, and contribute to the ongoing development of my nursing career.”
