Meet Daymi Martin, South University MSN FNP Graduate

As an advanced practice nurse, board-certified Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager Supervisor, and CEO of a Miami-based healthcare practice, Daymi Martin is making a difference daily in the lives of many adults, children, and families in Florida. Daymi earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization online at South University in 2024.

“I have a passion for helping others and wanted to make a meaningful impact in my community,” Daymi shares. “My time at South University was transformative. It not only prepared me for a meaningful career but also helped me grow as a person. I gained confidence, built lasting relationships, and discovered a renewed sense of purpose that continues to guide my professional path."

South University MSN Student Experience

She chose the university because of its commitment to academic excellence, its focus on practical learning, and the ability to balance her coursework with her personal responsibilities and her existing nursing career.

Before attending South University, Daymi had earned a medical degree from Villa Clara Science University in Cuba. She also had earned an undergraduate nursing degree in Florida that prepared her to become a registered nurse. Earning an MSN degree was the natural next step in her journey, especially as she sought to expand her abilities and her impact.

“What makes this program special is its comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with real-world application, preparing me for a career that truly changes lives,” she says. “The faculty at South University was incredibly supportive and always accessible, offering not just academic guidance

but also career insights and encouragement. Their passion for teaching and genuine interest in student success made a lasting impression on me and helped me stay motivated throughout my journey.”

After Graduation: Nursing Career Success

Advancing her education at South University prepared Daymi well for the next stage in her career. “South University provided me with the academic foundation, hands-on experiences, and mentorship that helped build my confidence and competence in the field,” she says. “The program not only taught me evidence-based practices but also instilled the professional values needed to succeed.”

Today, Daymi is CEO at Esperanza Group LLC. There, she supervises Certified Behavioral Case Managers and daily business operations. Focusing on behavioral and mental health, Esperanza Group conducts assessments and creates and implements customized recovery and well-being plans for its clients. As part of the practice, Daymi works closely with another South University graduate, Yurinia Avila, who earned her MSN FNP online in 2023.

Advice for Prospective and Current Students

Once you enroll, Daymi says that it’s important to stay focused. She encourages students to be proactive and never hesitate to reach out to professors, classmates, or South University staff for support. “Take full advantage of the resources offered—academic advising, tutoring, career services—and remember that every challenge you overcome brings you closer to your goal,” she advises.
