After months of interviewing, Dr. Michelle Krawczyk has been appointed as the new Dean of Nursing for South University®. Dr. Krawczyk is a Certified Nurse Educator with over 20 years of practice and academic experience. She has excellent analytical, team leadership, and management skills and a track record of leading multi-dimensional teams.
Dr. Krawczyk started her nursing career as an RN in the Emergency Department. After graduating with her MSN from the University of Florida, she worked as an Oncology ARNP for 12 years. Dr. Krawczyk completed her DNP in Education Leadership at American Sentinel University. Most recently, she was the Dean/Director of National Academic Operations at Chamberlain University where she supported pre-licensure, post-licensure and graduate programs, general education, and the College of Health Professions. Throughout her career in higher education, Dr. Krawczyk has had responsibilities that spanned the scope of academics, accreditation, Board of Nursing compliance for all 50 states, student success, faculty retention, and faculty training and leadership development. She has also had significant experience in operational academic leadership for growth in campus and online programs. She created the National Center of Academic Excellence at her former institution that provides academic support for all University students with significant focus on NCLEX and NP certification support. She also developed the University-wide New Faculty Orientation program to support faculty retention which supports more than 125 new full and part time faculty annually.
In addition to celebrating and announcing the onboarding of our new colleague, South University would like to thank Dr. Darlene Sperlazza-Anthony for serving as the interim Dean during the vacancy. Dr. Sperlazza-Anthony served as the interim Dean from February 2022 to current date. During this transitional time, Dr. Sperlazza-Anthony managed several significant projects including accreditation, onboarding of colleagues, and managing the day-to-day operations associated with the nursing program.
