Drug Testing and Criminal Background Checks
Drug testing is conducted during the first 5 quarters and again during Quarters VI-IX is at the expense of the student and the cost is approximately $35.00. A background check and drug screen will complete the enrollment process and is performed by a third party agency; this information will be provided prior to matriculation. A background check and drug screen will completed before the start of senior year at a cost of approximately $75 to the student and is performed by a third party agency.
Students are required to utilize MedWise to organize and store the AA program required medical records, immunization records, background checks and proof of medical insurance. The one time cost is approximately $35 and is the sole responsibility of the student.
The Anesthesiologist Assistant Program requires students to utilize ExamSoft testing software during the entire duration of their enrollment. The annual cost for this software is approximately $65 and is the sole responsibility of the student.
Students are required to wear the approved South University Anesthesiologist Assistant Program scrubs while they are on rotation in Savannah and during simulation courses. One set of scrubs is approximately $40/pair.
Students are required to have an adequate stethoscope to use for clinical educational purposes. The cost varies according to the type and model. One recommendation is the Littmann Classic II; stethoscopes cost approximately $100. Other clinical supplies such as pens, handbooks, etc. are at the discretion of the student to determine what is needed and students are responsible for these costs.
