Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, so when asked about her experience in the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management program at South University, Online Programs, it should be no surprise that Kaley DuPont describes it as both challenging and rewarding.
“I enrolled in South University’s Healthcare Management program to further pursue my dreams of helping others,” she says, noting that she’s always gravitated toward the healthcare field.
In fact, when she decided it was time to further her education in the field, Kaley already had eight years of healthcare experience under her belt, including roles as a Pharmacy Trainer and as a Senior Technician at a retail pharmacy.
“I did some research on schools with Healthcare Management and Physician Assistant programs that would accept most of my transfer credits from another college,” she explains. “After narrowing down my search, I knew I needed a solely online program in order to fit my busy schedule.”
Upon speaking with an Admissions Representative at South University, Online Programs, she knew she’d found the place for her.
For a time, Kaley attempted to juggle working full time with raising a family and going to school full time, but eventually Kaley decided to take a break in her career to fully pursue her academic goals. “To better provide for my family, I needed to focus more on my education,” she explains.
As a stay-at-home mom of two toddlers, however, she still has very few quiet moments. “My recommendation is to be extremely organized and focused and to set goals and develop a routine that you're able to manage and stick with,” suggests Kaley. “There will be nights that you have to stay up late in order to complete assignments and times where you feel like you cannot go any further. Small routines, timelines, positive energy, and the passion to succeed will push you all the way.”
Since enrolling in the Healthcare Management program, Kaley has worked hard to earn good grades and dedicate herself to her studies and was recently awarded a 2015 Path to Graduation Scholarship from the Education Foundation. “I am extremely blessed and grateful for the financial opportunity that the scholarship has provided,” she says.
After graduating, Kaley plans to pursue a physician’s assistant program and eventually run a MedSpa in the town where she lives. “I have always found helping others rewarding,” she says. “To see a patient smile, to see insecurities in new moms drift away, to help teenagers find their confidence—this pushes me every day to be a better student and reach for my goal.”
