South University, Savannah hosted their third annual Scrubs Camp, one of the campus’s most anticipated outreach events. This year was highly anticipated as the camp reached full capacity and had a waiting list for the local high school students looking to explore careers in healthcare. The camp utilized various clinical activities from South University’s programs including Medical Assisting, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Anesthesiologist Assistant, Physician Assistant, and Pharmacy.
These activities were designed to provide a unique, hands-on experience in the various clinical and health science fields. South’s faculty and students ran each of the stations to provide a supportive learning environment and give the high school students a sense of what healthcare education looks and feels like. The high school students practiced intubation techniques, performed ultrasound demonstrations, learned physical therapy exercises, took pulse and heart readings, and even learned to create ChapStick from scratch in the pharmacy lab.
While the students were in their lab experiments, their parents and guardians attended an information session that detailed more about South University and the admissions process. Members of the Financial Aid, Academics, and other departments answered questions and provided guidance so families had the information and support they needed to make plans for the future.
As Scrubs Camp 2026 came to a close, the high school students had made meaningful connections and expressed their excitement to pursue higher education, potentially even at South University. Events like these reflect the importance of connecting with the community and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
We’d like to offer a special thanks to all the faculty, staff, and students who participated and made this event successful!
