Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration
South University’s Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration degree program at the Columbia campus is designed to prepare graduates to seek employment in a leadership role in the healthcare field. As part of the healthcare administration degree, the coursework combines business knowledge and the needs of the healthcare field together to provide students with the opportunity to learn management and leadership skills to guide those under them and make high-level decisions in challenging circumstances.
The healthcare administration degree focuses on increasing the competencies to better manage the unique challenges of healthcare and business management. The healthcare administration program focuses on preparing graduates to interpret the knowledge in healthcare management principles and content, evaluate the impact of healthcare policy and law on the delivery and services provided by the industry, integrate market research with strategic planning in healthcare, assess managerial and leadership challenges in healthcare, and demonstrate the ability to communicate and present information that is concise, clear, organized, supported, and persuasive in a professional manner appropriate to the healthcare industry.
The hybrid format includes online coursework and on-campus sessions held one Saturday per course. This combines the independence of online study with the face-to-face aspects of campus classes.

Admission Requirements
Admissions criteria for the Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration (MBA-HCA)
Graduate Admissions - Masters level
Prospective students are required to submit the following:
- Completion of application for admission
- Official transcripts for bachelor or graduate degree within 5 weeks of the class start date (refer to Conditional Acceptance). (All credentials earned outside the United States must be evaluated by a NACES or AICE-member credential evaluation service). Please speak with an admissions representative for more information.

Specific requirements for admission to classified graduate status are:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A 2.0 overall grade point average or higher on completed requirements for the baccalaureate degree, or an earned graduate degree from an accredited institution.
- Or South University Doctor of Pharmacy students with a Pharm.D cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher who are approved for concurrent enrollment in the MBA-HCA program are eligible to enroll in classes after completing 120 hours of coursework, i.e. after Pharmacy Quarter 4.
- Completion of application for admission.
