After years of being in the workforce, Shanna-Kay Swazey had developed a range of skills, but there was more she wanted to learn and achieve. She decided it was time to continue her education and pursue a degree. After doing research online, Shanna-Kay found South University’s online programs1. Because she already had a job, being able to take classes online on her schedule was valuable.
When it came to choosing a degree, Shanna-Kay knew what she wanted to pursue: a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). “Business Administration is a versatile degree,” she says. “It can help you to enter any service industry.”2
As a South University student, Shanna-Kay took online business classes in economics, accounting, marketing, management, organizational behavior, and much more. In our BBA program, students also take a class where they act as managers of a simulated firm. They must develop and execute a strategic plan, monitor results, and modify their plans to achieve success in competition with others in the simulated industry.
“I loved the experience!” shares Shanna-Kay, who completed her BBA in 2024. “I had wonderful professors and the grad team was exceptional in their support every step of the way.”
Today, Shanna-Kay works as an IT Trainer Admin for Legacy Community Health, specializing in Epic Systems, the leading software for electronic health records. She trains and supports end-users, troubleshoots issues, and helps to optimize workflows.
Shanna-Kay says that one of the most important outcomes of the BBA program for her was learning how to analyze profitability and efficiently run a business. Wherever her future takes her, these skills will be useful in building her career3!
