On Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST, South University is excited to be continuing its time-honored tradition of hosting a commencement ceremony to recognize our new graduating class for their hard work, dedication and accomplishments. With the earning of a degree or certificate, these students from across our campuses and online programs have demonstrated an ability to achieve their academic goals and are poised to move forward to the next step of their lives.

Among our graduates are many venturing out onto new paths, while others set out to advance their careers and expand the impact of their work. In both cases, our alumni leave prepared to make their mark in the worlds of nursing, health professions, business and technology, psychology and counseling, criminal justice and law, ministry, pharmacy, public health, public administration and more. They depart South University ready to demonstrate leadership, critical thinking and a commitment to lifelong learning. Most of all, we are confident that each new graduate will do their part to make their community a better place.

This year, amidst our ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect our university community, South University is honoring our 2020 graduates with a virtual rather than in-person ceremony. This special event will reunite members of our graduating class with their classmates, instructors and campus administrators to celebrate this momentous day together.

Following our traditions of year past, the 2020 South University Commencement Virtual Ceremony will feature:

  • A welcome address from the South University Chancellor
  • Speeches from campus leaders
  • Presentation of awards and honors
  • Conferral of degrees and turning of the tassels
  • Reading of our graduates’ names

Friends and family are also invited to witness this important ceremony as their loved one moves from South University student to alumnus. To join us in this celebration on August 22 and support our graduates, please visit
