South University’s Tampa campus offers a student-centered environment focused on academic and professional growth. With flexible* day and evening classes, as well as both on-campus and online learning options, students can tailor their education to fit their schedules. The campus features modern classrooms, labs, and support spaces designed to promote a quality educational experience.
*Programs, including all Clinical/Medical programs, have a required in-person clinical, practicum, or externship. We cannot guarantee flexibility in these components of the program.
What attractions are near the campus?
The Tampa campus is just minutes from downtown and close to a variety of local attractions. Students can enjoy nearby destinations like Raymond James Stadium, Al Lopez Park, and the Tampa Riverwalk. The city also offers a vibrant food scene, cultural festivals, and easy access to Gulf Coast beaches.
How close is the campus to downtown Tampa or local landmarks?
South University’s Tampa campus is approximately 10 minutes from downtown Tampa. It’s easily accessible and is close to major landmarks like Raymond James Stadium and Tampa International Airport.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available on-site for students, faculty, and visitors.
What public transportation options exist?
Public transportation in Tampa is provided by HART (Hillsborough Area Regional Transit) (https://www.gohart.org/ ). Several HART bus routes serve the area around North Himes Avenue, offering students a convenient way to commute to campus. HART also provides real-time tracking and a mobile app for trip planning.

What student support services are available on campus?
The Tampa campus offers a wide range of student support services, including:
- Academic advising and tutoring through the Academic Success Center
- Financial Aid office for students to discuss funding their education
- Career Services for job search support, resume building, and interview prep
- Counseling services for academic, career, and personal concerns
- Disability services and accommodations
- Federal Work Study programs to provide experience

Does the campus have a library, lounge, or tutoring center?
Yes. The Tampa campus features an on-campus and virtual library, student lounges where you can study or relax, and an Academic Success Center that provides tutoring and any academic support students may need.
In addition, the campus has a PA skills lab, a BSN skills lab, two simulation rooms, and clinical labs for both PTA and OTA programs.
Are internships available through local businesses?
While traditional internships aren’t available, South University frequently partners with local businesses and health systems where students may form professional relationships. Most students will form these relationships through the clinical portion of their programs working with hospitals and other health systems in the area. Other partnerships where students may form connections include the NFL Players Association, Miss Latinia, and even the chamber of commerce.
Students can also volunteer to work within the community and form social connections that way.
Is the campus wheelchair accessible?
Yes. South University’s Tampa campus is fully wheelchair accessible and complies with ADA standards. Students needing accommodations can work with the campus’ Disability Services office.
What safety measures are in place on campus?
The Tampa campus follows South University’s safety protocols, including:

South University does not offer traditional on-campus dining. There are several vending machines on-campus that offer a variety of snacks and smaller meals with a microwave available in the student breakroom. In the areas around campus, students can explore dining such as Cuban cafés and seafood spots or fast-casual chains and international cuisine.
